New Faces

Thursday, October 14

Much like any other league around the world,
there would inevitably be a team that provide the surprises,
challenges and gossips among other teams.
Much like Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League
with their huge injection of cash to improve their squad,
our very own FUMAS has the surprise team
affectionately known as Hayato Chan, who are not cash-rich,
but passion and talent would be their treasure.

Taking a glimpse of the team name in the Sports section
of the daily news report, one would not be able to guess
the origin of the team name.
Consisting of only frosh members at the University of Toronto,
Hayato Chan is named after their well-known and respected
defender of the team, Izhar Hayato.

Izhar
His passion, dedication and commitment for the game
has catapulted his fame unto the futsal arena of stars.
To signify that this team means business,
and to represent the passion that every member of the team
has for the beloved game of futsal, they have chosen to use
the name that they currently carry right now.

The make up of the team consists of five other players
besides Izhar. They would be Galmier Dass (winger),
Shukry (winger), Muzakkir (midfielder), Fathuddin (midfielder)
and Edmond (forward). The performance of the team so far
has been of much surprise. Labelled as the dark horses,
with their lack of familiarity to the court and chilly Toronto environment,
they have surprised many with their delightful counter-attacking performance.
Having the ability to absorb the opposing team's attacks with a rigid defense,
they break on the instant they are able to gather the opportunity.

Among one of the most entertaining players in the pool of players,
Galmier Dass has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo for his
delightful passes and pin point crosses, not to forget his powerful shots.

Galmier
As for Shukry, he is the natural leader on the court for the team.
Dictating play most of the time, his leadership, skills, and vision
is second to none, and most often brings up the thought of Paul Scholes.
Having the ability to score goals in a blink of an eye,
he is definitely a player to look out for.

Shukry - in maroon.
Muzakkir, bright, hardworking and quick on his feet.
Without his contribution to the team,
it would not be able to sit at second spot as it is now.
Having the knack for preventing goals from being scored
by the opposing team, his defensive skill is feared,
and his attacking prowess is also given due attention
by spectators of all ages.

Muzakkir - known also as Zac
Another player as part of the team would be
Fathuddin.
Famous throughout the league for his never-ending stamina,
his tireless runs over the court to win the ball,
and unexpected but dedicated tackles on attacking players
are all part of his virtues that contribute so well for the team.
Never one to give up on a chase,
he has the ability to run down opponents,
and subdue them to the point of exhaustion.
Watch out for more of Fathuddin!

Fathuddin
And last but not least, the team is made complete
with Edmond who plays as the team's forward.
Generally known as a defensive player,
the team has plotted a surprise move for their opponents
to figure out by playing him as their attacker.
Able to run down opponents while they are having the ball,
he gives them no time to get comfortable with the ball.
Coming close to scoring a few times
with his interceptions on the opposing team,
he has shown that he is trying to adapt to his team's tactics.

Edmond
Stay tuned for Week 3 of FUMAS
as team Hayato Chan takes to the court!
