that was not defending. that was "goalkeeping" without using hands. hope you guys could read through the rules again. btw, good game.

According to the rules and regulations, there's nothing on "goalkeeping" without using hands, and then there is another issue of 2 defenders defending in in front of the goal post at the same time, so what should we do then? The rules and regulations posted here is insufficient info for the defenders of this league. So please someone clarify on this predicament.

That was sarcasm. Of course there's no such thing in the rules. Haha. What i meant, goalkeeping is not allowed, which is in the case happened this morning the guy who played as defender shouldn't be guarding the goal post for the entire game. That's not how to play 5-on-5 soccer. For the issue of 2 defenders blocking the goal at the same time, personally I think it is reasonably fine but depends on the situation. Not for the entire game. I'm pretty sure during corner kick every team have like 3 players guarding the goal post. And that's totally fine.

Some parts, especially on defending, isn't too clear on the written rules and regulations. It is quite too subjective, however we have discussed it during the meeting to have a 'gentlemen' agreement, whereby a team cannot be defending entirely (eg. having a player guarding the goal for the full game or having more than 1 player in between the goal posts). The captains have agreed on this in terms of fair play, and it is their responsibility to make it clear to their team players. Let's not forget that the main purpose of this event is for members to come out, play and have fun. So please respect the fair play agreement. Cheers

  1. Perhaps it is time to clear up the ambiguity? Because when you say "whereby a team cannot be defending entirely (eg. having a player guarding the goal for the full game or having more than 1 player in between the goal posts)" , how long does it consider entirely? Does that mean the player can merely step outside the circle, and come back in and its considered alright? I understand that its a game, and give and take in this situation, but some of us tend to get very focused on our role ( ie players who always play GK or defend )

If you have ever played as a defender you know what I mean when I say that a defender defends the goal at all cost. It just an instinct that a defender should be on guard in front of his goal most of the time. Moreover, it's not like the opposing team of Biceps did not scored at all, they did. Twice, so the team is not invincible in any sense.

Entirely means for the whole/full game, I don't know how else to explain that. Clear up the ambiguity sounds pretty easy when you say it, but how do you suggest we do it? We can't have timers/stopwatch associated to each defenders to monitor the duration of the player defending the goal. Also, it is ok for a defender to defend, but let's not forget this is not 11 vs 11. Even in such cases on outdoor fields, we have defenders supporting the attack and scoring goals, what more for a 5 vs 5 indoor soccer game. Usually this kinda game are universal-positioned where every player is constantly on the run at all times throughout the court. I realize it is ambiguous since we can't make a rule for this, but i hope by intuition we can figure out the best way to fair-play. Cheers.
